Does end of summer mean end of fitness & nutrition goals?

It is so hard to believe that the summer of 2017 is just about over???  It didn't seem like much of a summer to begin with.  Every year I hear people say that they are going to stay on track for summer and maybe get into a bathing suit this year or be able to wear it in public.  Summer comes and we get very strict with our eating habits and our workouts and then it seems after Labor Day, everybody begins to make less and less effort because "the holidays are coming so I'll just wait until they are over to get back into it" or the old "I'll just wear baggy clothes in the winter anyway".  While I do understand how hectic life becomes when there are after school activities and sports with the kids, I think we need to focus more on the healthy aspect of our exercise and nutrition and not so much on the "cover up the problem with large clothing".   Continuing on your workout regimen will not only continue to bring you results in how you look, but more importantly..how you feel!  Studies have been shown that getting your heart rate increased and working out with friends improves your mood and decreases stress better than prescribed antidepressants.  I also think people don't realize the harmful side effects of many medications that are taken for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, depression, joint pain and weakness.  Many of these medications while they help the problem you are experiencing, they trigger other negative reactions to other organs.   Some of these are immediate side effects while others are silently doing damage that is sometimes too late to correct.  Balance is the key to enjoying your life and enjoying your workouts.  Enjoy a splurge when you feel like it, but get back on track with healthy habits and you will see how when you do treat yourself, you will appreciate it much more because you deserve it!
